The FTI BC Offers More Glazing Courses in 2012
Sept. 15, 2011

The Finishing Trades Institute of British Columbia is pleased to announce it will be offering additional Glazing Apprenticeship classes in 2012 to meet the increasing demand for glazing training.

"The ITA has approved our request to teach additional glazing courses, which means the FTI BC is able to deliver the training contractors need on the job," said Dave Holmes, Director of Training at the FTI BC.

"We're the only glazing training facility in the Lower Mainland, so it's important that we can provide the training when it's needed," he said.

An additional Glazing Level 2 will be scheduled for June 2012 and an additional Glazing Level 1 will be scheduled for October 2012. Dates for each class will be posted on the FTI's Apprentice Schedule.

"It's good to see more glazing students come into the school ready to learn the glazing trade," said Mark Longmore, the FTI BC's Glazing Coordinator and Instructor. "Our apprentices are eager to learn. It's great to see such enthusiasm and dedication."

The Glazing Apprenticeship is three levels long and delivered in 6-week blocks. Between blocks, apprentices apply what they've learned at the FTI on real glazing jobs around the province under the supervision of their apprentice sponsor.

Once Apprentices finish all three levels, they are eligible to write the Red Seal exam and become certified journeypersons.
