Mark Longmore, Glazing Instructor/Coordinator

Mark began his career as a glazier by beginning his apprenticeship in 1988. He received his TQ in 1993 and followed in the footsteps of his father who was also a glazier. He performed service work for such clients as BC Place, Metro Tower, Pacific Blue Cross, the UBC gym and other major projects. He has been a foreman with Landmark Glass and Civic Glass since 1994, and joined the faculty at the institute as the glazing instructor in 2006.

Mark Tenbroek, Painting Instructor/Coordinator

Mark began work as a painter in 1982 and worked on industrial jobs in the Lower Mainland and in Alberta. He registered as an apprentice in 1987 and completed his TQ and his Red Seal at BCIT in 1990. He continued his career working with a variety of excellent tradesmen who taught him all aspects of the trade including wood finishing, high-end painting, graphic work and all other aspects of the painting trade. He began work as an instructor at the Institute in 2007.

Stewart Baird, Interior Systems Mechanic Instructor/Coordinator

Stewart began his apprenticeship in 1988 after high school graduation, and he received his ticket as a journeyman in 1992 at the age of 22. By 26 he was running jobs for several companies, ending with B&O. Stewart went to China in 2002 to teach steel stud in their growing industry, and when he returned to BC he taught construction to high school-aged students in Maple Ridge. That led to his current position on the faculty of the institute in 2008.

Brent Dubois, Drywall Finishing Coordinator/Instructor

Brent entered his trade in 1987 as an apprentice, and received his journeyman's ticket in 1990. His work was mainly in the Metro Vancouver area, working on such notable projects as the forestry building at UBC, the Yellow Pages building in Burnaby and many schools and commercial projects. He has been a member of DC38 since his days as an apprentice and for the seven years prior to joining the faculty at the Institute, he worked as a foreman for Turner Brothers.

Chico Albino, Painting Instructor

Chico entered the painting trade in 1982 after taking the five-month pre-apprentice course at the Provincial Vocational Institute. He then worked for a number of smaller companies doing residential work, then moved to Ken Berge Painters where he earned his TQ and Red Seal in 1986, and stayed with the company for 24 years. He worked on increasingly more complex projects and often stood in for the owner when he was away. In 2007 he joined the institute as a painting instructor.
